Happy to announce our exam has been finished! Let’s back to our entertaiment, yeah pull up your chair and fly to Mexico for a while!  Mexican cuisine is primarily a fusion of indigenous Mesoamerican cooking with European, especially Spanish, the basic main ingredients were corn,  beans, and chili peppers, but the most important of which were meat from domesticated animals (beef, pork, chicken, goat and sheep), dairy products (especially cheese) and various herbs and much spices. Get that all? Don’t try so hard because now I’ll review Indo-Mexican fusion food!

Nasi Namex is Mexican and Indonesian fusion concept of rice bowl (street food) located in several spot in Bandung, such as Kedai Koboi, ITENAS, and Ciumbeleuit, Bandung– The venue simply goes on booth, so they simply blend with their neighbor environment.

As my tough stepped by, I got a chance to try this hype rice bowl in Kedai Koboi, witches the main based of ITB student boarding house, the booth simply blend with the concept of Kedai Koboi itself.

The interior of Kedai Koboi is quite unique, with an unordinary roof that similar with their cowboy concept, and simple aligned wood table, that perfect for university student to grab a meals or study together.

Move to their menu, they offer us four different kind of Mexican indulgent, two of them nearly the same, witches the original one, but differences sometimes doesn’t matter for us, so we’ll try them all special for you!

All menu above is a rice bowl, so I won’t mention the rice again later, because it’s already included and for me the rice is quite ordinary, but still a great partner for this dishes. Hongos fajitas, let’s #bullyyourbelly!

Namex Chicken Original
>>IDR 13k

Fillet chicken breast, mantled by extraordinary Namex flour, and served with salsa x volcano sauce, well, The chicken was perfectly cooked, and I must said the sauce was epic, I feel the spice crumble up perfectly in my mouth, seems the sweet and sour is having a battle tag there with the chicken, sadly that battle tag is quite strong, they both tasted good, but not quite blend perfectly with the rice, maybe because the texture of a chicken breast, that didn’t have any fat to blend the sauce well in my mouth.

Namex Curry Chicken
>>IDR 15k

My favorite menu in Nasi namex, because I rarely found this hype-alike curry, it’s not like Japanese nor Indian, simply different and little bit taste like West Indonesian spice, not sweet, very spicy and lil bit salty, the chicken cubes also perfectly cooked, and blend perfectly with the Mexican curry sauce!

Salted Hongos
>>IDR 13k

East meet west in a bowl! Oyster mushroom feat salted egg, hmmm, the mushroom was perfectly cooked and seasoned, I feel the heat of spice and pepper inside and outside it, the salted egg was also perfect, mixed up with chili and secret seasoning, well I love the combination when I took a spoon of all of it, I wish they could blend the salted egg more perfect, because for me the taste don’t really stick with the rice, maybe a little watery or milky, LOL!

Namex Dory Original
>>IDR 15k

Same with the Chicken original but with different protein-based, yeahh I prefer this one than the chicken, why? Because for me the dory is really great, they said they used imported dory! I don’t know exactly why but I feel the sauce here is more blended with the rice than the chicken one, It simply make the taste of dory turn out into a high-class dory, good job!

After all, I’m really happy there’s street-food stall like Nasi Namex, I really love your dishes guys! I hope they could improve their menu and try some other protein-based, cow maybe? LOL! And also the ambience of the stall, I don’t know the other stall but I think in Kedai Koboi is good. Hope you guys could soon opened a Nasi Namex Resto/lounge/bar/kitchen, so you could bring us into the more real mexican ambience, Godspeed!
